EMC Research China (ERC) is a significant part of EMC China COE and EMC Innovation Network. ERC and RSA Labs are the two initial research laboratories of EMC Innovation Network. ERC is the first laboratory that EMC has established outside the United States. It is located in the Tsinghua Science Park in Beijing.
The mission of ERC is to drive the exploration, discovery and application of new technologies that will shape the future of information infrastructure, its lifecycle management and services. Facing outward, we will conduct research in close collaboration with universities and academic partners by publishing in academic conferences and journals. We will also work closely with industrial partners in cross-industry standardization activities. Facing inward, we will provide technology consultations for CTOs and senior technologists of various business units and divisions at EMC who are members of the Innovation Network, and we will receive their inputs on the requirements, technical problems, and feedback of our consultations.
Research areas of interest at ERC broadly span the information infrastructure of the future: How to make the most sense of the immense and growing variety of information across everyday life and business, and how to manage the resources that process that information.
The EMC Innovation Network is a global, collaborative community, including some of the world's brightest technology minds, comprised of EMC research, advanced development teams, university research partners and key customers. It will seek to drive the exploration, discovery and application of new technologies that will shape the future of information infrastructure. In addition to a broad range of ongoing EMC advanced development and research projects, the EMC Innovation Network will explore key insights into how information technology is delivered, particularly as it relates to the management and use of information itself.
Through the new EMC Innovation Network, EMC will harness the collective research and development power of its approximately 5,000 technical R&D employees; align research resources from around the globe, including those housed in EMC's Centers of Excellence in China, India and Russia; and foster academic collaboration through new and existing university and other academic relationships. In China, EMC has jointly built the first innovation network lab with Fudan University.
